Employment Opportunities at Tethers Unlimited, Inc.

Tethers Unlimited is an aerospace and defense R&D firm located in Bothell, WA. We are currently developing a number of advanced technologies for space and defense systems, including deployable structures for small spacecraft, on-orbit manufacturing technologies, in-space propulsion systems, and RF communications and sensing. Tethers Unlimited typically takes on projects that are out-of-the-box and extremely technically challenging, so to work here you must be creative, very hard working, and committed to producing the highest quality work. You also must be able to work efficiently as a part of a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team, and document and communicate your work clearly.

Avionics Engineer

Tethers Unlimited, Inc. (TUI) is looking to hire an ambitious and self-motivated electrical engineer to help design and build a series of software-defined radio and avionics products. We are looking for an EE with experience working with high-speed mixed-signal embedded systems either in the industry or in an R&D laboratory environment. Experience with any or all of the following is desired:

Designing and building RF communications systems
High-speed analog and digital signaling
Embedded and DSP software design using FPGAs (Xilinx preferred)
Design and qualification of avionics for space systems
PCB design and layout (Mentor Graphic’s PADS preferred)

A strong candidate will have at least a BSEE and experience designing, building, and testing real hardware at the brassboard level in addition to using software simulation tools. Good communication skills and above all a desire to learn new skills and apply existing knowledge to unique and challenging problems is a must.
